A tidbit from one of my favourite geeks: David Galbraith on Facebook

The Design of Facebook: Almost as many people are going gaga about Facebook these days, as the iPhone and the knee-jerk reaction seems to... The link above will give you the full gore of what David writes, if not thinks, about it. I do not know enough about UI to agree or disagree with him. Often I find his views interesting, informative and certainly critical.
"Facebook takes a list of friends and creates a personal newspaper spliced together from the actions of people in your network. It goes beyond the early experiments in social networking which started with bare bones links to people, followed by blog like profiles (but for the 99.999% of people who don't really want or need a blog)."
I for my part am increasingly bored with Facebook. Bored and fascinated at the same time. Depending on what kind of friends one has befriended it can be really informational and useful, or just... well electronic fish wrapper. Ah! Poor poor fish! Actually boredom turns into fascination for me when I move my perspective from working tools to sandbox. Facebook is still at the sandbox level. If you have time, go play with it. Sometimes I do.

From Geneva with Love: Public Man to Theoretical Man

There is a bridge from Lift to reboot, it is Theoretical Man. It is a bit of a long winded story, but here is the write-up after my talk at reboot 9.0 in copenhagen on June 1. I post this here because the whole of this was inspired from the experience of my talk here on OpenStage "Knowledge Ownership". My posts on theoretical man are notes on a book that I have started working on.
